Let the light in
Okay, we all know it: winter days are shorter and scarce of sunshine. Very different than the summer days, which are stretchy and flood our home with lots of daylight. So, how can you make the most of the dull winter light in your space? Here are some simple tips to bring in some brightness.
Change your curtains:Although winter curtains are charming, they are heavy and dark, blocking most natural light. That adds a dramatic and enclosed feel to your living room. Lighter options, however, are best for a summery ambiance, so sheer and airy fabrics would be great alternatives. If you need heavier options to help maintain the heat, invest in bright and cheerful colors instead.
Get in a mirror or two: Mirrors are a great way to make the most of the light in the room. Placing them in a spot that receives the most natural light will bounce it back to darker areas of the room. Avoid overwhelming the space with mirrors. A mirror or two should be enough to make a significant impact.
Clean and Declutter your windows: it is normal for dust and dirt to pile up on the surface of your glass window. So, cleaning them once a month will ensure more light can flow in. Also, keep your windowsills free from objects, like decorations, house plants, or books. I know it can be tempting not to, but they will block light, and you want as much light to stream through.
Let be green
Another thing I miss during autumn and winter days is the freshness, colorful trees, and flowers. But house plants are a great way to bring the outdoors and make your home feel much more summery. Look for plants that don’t require much sunlight, such as succulents and ferns.
Another tip is to buy bunches of fresh flowers and add a few vases around the house or center of your dining table. Plants and flowers will enhance the look of your home and help purify the air, giving a cleaner and fresher air.
Get your color fix
Another great way to add a summer feel to your space is to add pops of color throughout each room. Play around and choose your favorite colors, but sunshine yellow, sky blue, cobalt blue, white, and pastel colors usually scream SUMMER!
Play with your existing decors, such as candles, art, throw, pillows, rugs, and other decorative items. Check what you already have and try to swap around before buying new home decor. But a key takeaway is that the brighter the colors, the better.

Outdoor Space: Check!
Summer days are all about being outdoors, basking in the sun. On the other hand, when winter arrives, we tend to hide. What if I tell you it does not have to be this way? By designing a cozy zone in your garden, you can enjoy the outdoors in the winter, even if you don’t have much space.
Get your outdoors ready by investing in comfy furniture, a cozy fire pit, and warm blankets. Make your outdoor space a place to enjoy breakfast with family and friends, or add a projector and have summer-inspired movie nights. Another great tip is to plan your garden for winter blossoms, such as daffodils and snowdrops.
Get that summer scent
Freshly cut grass, the sea, or sunscreen lotion… Ah, summer smells are unmistakable. So incorporating some summer-like scents into your home can be a great way to drag you out of the winter slumps.
Fragrances are subjective, but summer smells tend to have citrus and floral notes. You can incorporate these into your home with candles or diffusers. Orange blossom, mandarin, and grapefruit scents are great options. Other alternatives are sea salt and coconut fragrances.
Smells bring memories and let you revive those fun summer days.
